Step by step tutorial: How to install a new Video Site

 


 

1-login as Administrator into your Video Site

Click on the login link at the top of the page, this will open the connection window to your Admin account.

Insert your email address and password when you have created your Video Site or received from LiveGiving

     Click on the Admin menu, at the top of the homepage on the right.

2-Insert site parameters and info :

Click on the “Site Parameters” menu and insert all the information related to your website, your logo, Local time, customize the homepage player, etc......

3-Create new categories and upload pictures

Click on the “Categories” menu on the left of the page.

Click on “Add new category” button to create a new category

After inserting a name, click on the “Select image” button to upload an image related to the category. A new window will be opened to upload an image to the LiveGiving server.

important note:

If nothing happens after uploading a picture, check if there is a space or any special characters in the name of the file and delete them.

Also check the format of your picture. Only the following formats are accepted: jpg, jpeg, png, gif.       (Image.jpeg, image2.gif )

 

Tip: The name of category is not translated in different languages. You can insert a category name in 2 different languages. 

Example:  Car- Voiture   ( English- French)

 

 

4-Upload pictures

Tip: To increase the speed of loading pages of your Video Site, please upload pictures smaller than 100 Kb.

 

1- Send images from your computer

Click the “select image” button that is opening a new window: see screenshot below.

Click on the “Upload” button to add new picture from your computer:

important note: Do not upload pictures bearing a name includes a blank space or special characters in the name of the file.  

Only these formats are accepted: jpg, jpeg, gif.       (Image.jpeg, image2.gif )

This format is not supported: png,   (image3.png)

 

Important note: some versions of Firefox  block the upload function, please use Explorer to resolve the issue.

 

 

Click "open" and then the "Upload Selected File" button.

 

 

 

The uploaded image is listed on your screen

 

 

Important: Double click on the picture just uploaded to select it.

 

If everything is OK the picture will be displayed on the page (see screenshot below). If you don’t see the picture, retry the process or your picture is corrupted.

 

 

      If nothing happens in the page, after uploading a picture, check if there is a space or any special characters in the name of the file and delete them.

Check the format of your picture: only these formats are accepted: jpg, jpeg, gif.       (Image.jpeg, image2.gif )

 

Tips:

It’s recommended to rename the file to a single word without any special characters. Special characters accepted in the filename: “_” and “ –“   .

After the upload process, it is recommended to rename the file to a single word, with no special characters.

 

 

 2- Upload a picture from the Internet:

Avoid using this process; if you do you could complicate the upload

5-Add a video from Youtube or a third party

  http://yoursite.mymuseum.tv/modify_video.php?operation=insert

 

Click on the top bar on the “Add a Video” button.

If you do not see this button, you have to login again as an administrator of the site.

5-1 Add a video from Youtube

 

Insert in the full path of the Youtube video.

For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMH0bHeiRNg

 

 

The LiveGiving platform will import all the details of the video (title, description, tags, meta-name, thumbnail, length ..) from Youtube without making any modification.

tip: don't add  extensions after the name of the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBq8clz1nvQ&feature=related

 

5-2 Add a file from the Internet

Select: Internet path of the FLV file

Copy full path of the video and paste in the box:

 

Copy the entire path of the Flash Video file, from “http://” to the “.flv”  extension.

Example: http://blip.tv/file/get/PigskinGourmet-ThanksgivingTurkeyOnTheGrill430.flv

 

Then click on the “send” button. You’ll be redirected to the “Add a new video” page.

Continue and insert data related to the video.

Don’t forget to fill required fields marked with a star *.

5-3 Add the code of a player of any video sharing site

 

Select the option: “Embed code of video player”

Text box will be opened, insert here the embed code you have copied.

For advanced users: You can modify the code you have copied.

The parameters below can be changed: size of the player, logos, images, links and more..

 

Then you have to insert manually all the data of your video: title, description, tags, length, thumbnail....

 

5-4 Upload a file to your own server hosted by LiveGiving

This option is available for Premium user only.

 

 

 

 

6-customize colors and design:

    1. basic options:

Choose the pre-selected combinations

 

 

 

 

    1. advanced options:

 

Change the colors until you find colors that fit your Video Site.

 

 

 

Click on “save” button to see results and open a new window of the Homepage.

7-Homepage customization:

      choose the modules that will be displayed on the right side of the Homepage and below the video player.

Clicking on a block will open a window. Please choose what to display on your home-page.

 

 

 

New features:

In block 6  you can insert HTML code and get a full customization of the block.

For modifications in other blocks you have to contact the LiveGiving team and they'll change the HTML code, according to your plan.

 

Tip: Review the color customization after update the Homepage, some text may not appear correctly.

 

 

 

8-Create a new project

 

    Add a new project and follow all the directions displayed on the page.

Important note: To display videos related to a project in the project page, you have to connect a video to the project, via the modify-video page.
